Partnering with the leadership of the Salvation Army and the United Way, The Village Table offers a safe shelter to serve the vulnerably housed in our community with free shower facilities, free laundry and dryer facilities, and a place to sit around tables for free light meals 4 days a week. The program, called Hope Links, offers tangible services on site while connecting guests to more services within our community, according to their needs and goals — all while building social ties and trust with volunteers and staff. We echo Gwendolyn Woods, Family Services Manager for the Salvation Army in Listowel, when she said, “We want to create an atmosphere where people are comfortable, where it’s a place where they are known and they know us.” It’s our privilege to bring real hope and real, tangible help and hospitality to our neighbors.
